Long distance removals from the North East are priced mainly on driving time, the size of vehicle and whether everything fits in one trip, rather than on the loading. LMD Logistics carries out long-distance moves across England, Scotland and Wales from our Birtley yard beside the A1(M), working seven days a week from 8am to 8pm, with goods in transit insurance on every job.
A move from the North East to London, Manchester or Bristol is priced differently to a local job: the driving time dominates, and getting it into one trip is the main saving.
One trip beats two, every time
The right-sized vehicle on the first attempt avoids a second 500-mile round trip. That's why we take longer over the inventory on long-distance jobs than local ones.
Timing and overnight jobs
- Early starts avoid the worst of the A1 and M6 and often turn a two-day job into one.
- Some destinations have delivery windows or congestion charges that need factoring in.
- Where a job genuinely can't be done in a day, we agree the overnight arrangement in the quote — never afterwards.
Access at the far end
City-centre destinations frequently have the tighter access, not the North East origin. Send photos of the destination street and door if you have them.
Common questions
Do you move people from the North East to other parts of the UK?
Yes. We carry out long-distance moves across England, Scotland and Wales from our Birtley yard.
Can a long-distance move be done in one day?
Often, with an early start and the right-sized vehicle. Where it genuinely cannot, the overnight arrangement is agreed in the quote.
Can my things be stored if the new home is not ready?
Yes. Belongings can be held in storage at our Birtley yard until you are ready for delivery.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — we run UK-wide from our Birtley base, including regular routes to the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, Scotland and the South.
Can you combine a long-distance move with storage?
Yes. Storing at our yard between dates is common when the completion times don't line up.
Is a part-load cheaper?
It can be, when your dates are flexible enough for us to combine it with another job on the same route.
