Man and Van Pricing: What You're Paying For

Fully insured Birtley, DH3 2TB 07376 293540
Man and van crew with a Luton van

Man and van is usually the cheapest way to move a part-load, a single room or a flat — but only when the job is sized correctly.

Here's how the hours, the crew and the vehicle combine, and when it stops being the right service.

What the hourly figure includes

  • The Luton van, fuel and goods-in-transit insurance.
  • Two or three movers depending on the weight and access.
  • Loading, securing, transport, unloading and basic placement in the room you point at.
  • Blankets and straps for protecting furniture in transit.

When man and van is cheaper than full removals

If your belongings fit within one or two van loads, and you've packed the boxes yourself, man and van almost always wins on price.

Once you're into three or more loads, a properly planned removal with the right vehicle in one trip usually costs less than repeated round trips.

Things that quietly add hours

  • Boxes that aren't sealed or labelled when the crew arrives.
  • Furniture that needs dismantling on the spot rather than in advance.
  • Parking a long way from the door at either end.
  • Waiting for keys, agents or lifts in shared buildings.
