Weight is only half the problem — an item that two people can lift may still be impossible to turn on a staircase. Both get assessed before we quote.
What we need to know first
- Approximate weight, and the dimensions including any base or plinth.
- The floor it's on now and the floor it's going to.
- Whether the route includes stairs, a lift, or a step down at the door.
- Floor surfaces at both ends, so we can protect them.
How we handle it
Extra crew, straps, skates and boards do most of the work. Some items are dismantled into components that can be carried individually — glass tops off tables, doors off wardrobes, drawers out of units.
Where an item genuinely can't be moved safely, we say so before you've paid for a wasted visit.
Common examples
- Safes, gym equipment and workshop machinery.
- Stone, marble or glass tabletops.
- American-style fridge freezers and range cookers.
- Large aquariums, which must be fully emptied before the day.
