The classic moving-day problem isn't weight, it's geometry. A sofa that came into the old house through a wide Victorian hallway may not turn on a modern staircase.
The four measurements that matter
- Door width and, just as important, door height.
- The diagonal of the item — most sofas go through on an angle.
- The turn at the bottom and top of the stairs, and the ceiling height above the turn.
- Landing depth on upper floors, which decides whether a wardrobe can be swung round.
When something genuinely won't fit
The usual answers are dismantling, removing a door from its hinges, or taking the item in through a patio door or window. We carry tools for the first two as standard and will tell you honestly when an item isn't going to make it.
Tell us in advance, not on the day
A photo and a couple of measurements at quote stage lets us allocate time and the right crew. Discovering it at 8am costs everybody the morning.
