A quote is not just a number. It is a description of the job, and the number is the last line of it. If a quote does not tell you what you are getting, you cannot compare it with anybody else's.

It should state the crew and the vehicle
- How many movers are coming.
- What size vehicle, and whether one load or two is expected.
- Whether the same team is doing both ends of the move.
It should be clear about time
Fixed price or hourly rate should be obvious at a glance. If it is hourly, ask what happens if the day runs long and whether travel time is charged.
We quote a fixed price for the job so the figure you accept is the figure you pay.
It should confirm insurance
Goods in transit cover and public liability cover should be stated, not implied. This is the single most important line in the quote and the one most people forget to check.
It should list what is included
- Blankets, straps, trolleys and floor protection.
- Dismantling and reassembly of beds and flat pack furniture.
- Boxes and packing materials, if you have asked for them.
- Any second address, storage leg or waste removal you have discussed.
Warning signs
- A price given instantly with no questions about access.
- No written confirmation of what is included.
- A firm that will not confirm whether the crew is theirs or subcontracted.
